Living Beyond a Schedule

“Be still and know that I am God…” |Psalm 46:10|

Living in today’s time-ruled society, it is difficult to remember to leave time for God. We go on day by day with our busy lifestyles and have learned to be conservative with our time, because it’s too precious to waste. We’ve perfected the ability to multitask, and we’ve created apps and software that allow us to schedule tasks to be done while we’re doing other things (like sleeping). We schedule God in, and go to church, but even during our scheduled “God-time”, we’re not completely available, we’re on our phones responding to messages, tweeting the sermon, or sharing a church selfie on Instagram. We’ve made time to be there, but have no time to be there. Is this good enough? No! God deserves our full, undivided attention. Time with Him is more important, more beneficial, and more rewarding than anything on our To-Do list. It is important that we allow ourselves to live beyond a schedule. We need to break free from the clock and allow ourselves to just be… Pay attention to the beauty of God that is all around us. He is in the birds’ song, and in the wind blowing across your face. He’s in the warmth of the sunlight, and the cool of the night. He’s in every moment and every breath. Remember to stop and bask in His presence. I encourage you to stop what you’re doing right now. Close your eyes and take five deep breaths (or MORE) and concentrate on the God that is surrounding you right now. Thank Him for your day, worship His goodness and mercy. Reflect on how good He’s been to you. Be still… and know that He is God.
